We take our job very seriously when it comes to finding the correct shoe for you. To ensure that we get the job done correctly the first time, we are very systematic when it comes to our fitting process. We start by getting to know a little about you; what your fitness history is, if you have an injury history, and if you are currently experiencing any pain during exercise. Then we dive a little further into your fitness goals. This includes understanding how you will be using the shoe, what activities you plan on using them for, frequency of use, and weekly mileage if applicable. Then we have you remove your socks and inspect for signs of unusual wear, including calluses, blisters, and black toenails. We also encourage you to bring your training shoes into the store so we can assess the wear patterns and looks for unusual pressure points on the insole. From here we watch you walk away and towards us so that we can gauge the instability or rigidity of your foot. With this information, we can then decide which category of shoe would best suit your foot-type, and select a few models from different brands that should work for you. We encourage you to ask questions along the way, because one of our main goals is to educate you throughout the process. We will use models and books to illustrate what we are seeing structurally in your foot, so that you understand why we have selected the type of shoes that we have. After running or walking with the shoes on the sidewalk outside, we can determine whether our initial conclusions were correct. This is a lengthy process that takes anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. We want to take our time with each individual so that we can find the best shoe for them. We encourage you to wear athletic apparel to the store, so that you can sufficiently test the shoes.
